Micah Richards believes things are not as bad as people make out right now at Chelsea, but admits there’s one signing they can make in January to dig them out of this challenging period.
The Blues continue to record poor results on a weekly basis, losing 1-0 at home to Aston Villa at the weekend in their latest disappointment.
Mauricio Pochettino has coached his side to dominate most games since he took charge in the summer as head coach, but the lack of goalscoring means it’s just two wins from seven games across all competitions so far. Next, it’s a home tie against Brighton tonight in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Micah Richards has admitted he’s liked a lot of what he’s seen so far from Chelsea in games.
However, he’s stressed how vital it is for the club to go out and sign a new striker to score goals.
“They’re not rubbish. They are playing some really good football. They are controlling games at times. When they find that striker, they will be fine,” Richards told The Rest Is Football.

Nicolas Jackson is clearly still a work in progress, scoring once in seven Chelsea appearances this campaign. Let’s hope the 22-year-old Blues striker is afforded more time.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Armando Broja is another young forward available to Pochettino. However, he’s only just returning from a serious knee problem, so we’re suggesting patience as he regains top fitness.
We do agree with Richards that this Blues side would have a different complexion with a goalscorer leading the line.
Journalist Simon Phillips reported via his Substack earlier this week that Chelsea are very interested in signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney. He could be the 20-goal striker we’re crying out for!
