Moises Caicedo has showered one Chelsea teammate with big praise for the impact he has on the current side.
There’s a lot of talent in the Chelsea squad, including Moises Caicedo himself. So far, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder has started every game in the Premier League this season and is consistently performing at a high level.
Speaking recently on his podcast, John Obi Mikel said Caicedo is one of the first names on the Chelsea teamsheet, along with Cole Palmer.

Moises Caicedo hails Cole Palmer
Caicedo is the latest voice in the football world to praise Chelsea’s Palmer because of his incredible form, something he gets to see up close and personnel because they play in the same club XI.
It may surprise people to hear him add that the Englishman is a massive help both offensively and defensively.
When discussing Blues teammate Palmer, Caicedo told Sky Sports News (6:50pm, 4 October): “Yeah, he is helping a lot to us, attacking and defending. He is a very good player, you know, already every game he shows his football on the pitch. That’s amazing. I think all the fans and all the players will enjoy when he does everything on the pitch.”
Cole Palmer is the complete package
Of course, Palmer is grabbing all the headlines for his incredible attacking output. In particular, he looks so well suited to the No.10 central position that he’s playing for Chelsea under Enzo Maresca.
The left-footed talisman has six goals and four assists in six Premier League appearances this campaign.
It’s very rare that anybody ever examines the defensive side of Palmer’s game because of his brilliance going forward, but Caicedo has flagged it as another tick in his game. Chelsea have Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez as the central midfield pairing, but Palmer will drop in front of them out of possession as a No.10.
Fotmob data has Palmer’s defensive statistics from this Premier League season so far (per 90 minutes):
- Possession won in final third – 1.1
- Clearances – 0.9
- Successful tackles – 0.7
- Interceptions – 0.4
- Blocks – 0.2
Despite Palmer being defensively switched on, our message to England’s interim boss Lee Carsley is not to get any ideas about playing him at left-back.
