Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that Chelsea could announce Graham Potter as their new manager as soon as today.

The Blues only sacked Thomas Tuchel this morning, off the back of an embarrassing defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in his 100th game in charge of the club.

However, it has been claimed that the dismissal is not due to results on the pitch, with fingers being pointed towards a breakdown of communication between the manager and the owner Todd Boehly.

This then suggests that there is some kind of plan in place going forwards, with picking the right man for the job essential when replacing a Champions League winner.

Advancements today have suggested that the Blues are keen on Graham Potter, who is currently enjoying a sensational start to the season with Brighton, leading them to fourth in the table.

Chelsea moving quick for Potter

Kinsella had already claimed today that the club had requested to contact the Seagulls manager in order to discuss the vacancy, however has now added to that by claiming that things are moving rapidly towards him being appointed.

He said: “This is moving at quite some pace. It’s possible it is done today.”

The Englishman would be a sensational coup for the Blues, with him clearly building something special at the Amex.

His time in the Premier League so far has been extremely positive, and seen him gain praise from those in the game for his work.

Fellow promising manager Eddie Howe described him as ‘outstanding’, while he has also been praised heavily for his style of play that has seen the Seagulls up to fourth in the table, whilst also boasting the joint-most impressive defensive record of the season so far.

While he doesn’t have experience up to now in Europe, what he’s doing on a shoestring budget compared to Chelsea’s should suggest he’d be a fantastic candidate for the role.
