Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali has reportedly reassured Graham Potter that he will not be axed from his job just yet.

According to Ben Jacobs, Eghbali has told Potter ‘multiple times’ about being backed by the board, and that they are not planning on making a change without giving the current coach ‘more time and resource’.

In the eyes of many, the man in the Stamford Bridge dugout is walking on the thinnest of ice in terms of staying put at the club.

Chelsea are in the midst of a miserable period, both on and off the field.

Sunday’s harrowing FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City was the latest loose performance, not to mention a grave indication of the difference between the two teams.

Graham Potter is under pressure at Chelsea

Potter’s side have won just two of their last nine games across all competitions.

This run has seen them exit both domestic cup competitions, and drop to 10th in the Premier League.

Their only saving grace for the season is to achieve another miraculous Champions League triumph.

Whilst winning the European trophy sounds unimaginable, Thomas Tuchel managed it after taking over from Frank Lampard mid-way through a campaign.

But this current batch of Blues feels even more disjointed before, not helped by the seemingly endless list of casualties in the senior squad.

Without the likes of Reece James, N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana for a huge chunk of the term, Chelsea have suffered massively.

This has certainly punched huge holes in Potter’s short reign, one that might cease to exist if results continue to crumble.

Yet, despite all the negativity surrounding the Englishman, he appears to have the support of those powers above him.

For the time being, at least.
