Richard Keys has told Chelsea to hire Jose Mourinho as their next permanent manager.

He claimed to beIN SPORTS that the club should bring in club legend John Terry as their assistant in order to sort out the mess at Stamford Bridge.

The managerial situation at Chelsea this season has been nothing short of a shambles.

Todd Boehly made the decision to sack Thomas Tuchel early in the campaign, and elected to hire Graham Potter as his replacement.

Despite plenty of backing, the American had to pull the trigger after the Blues dropped into the bottom of the table.

They elected to hire Frank Lampard as the temporary man in charge, with his first four games resulting in four defeats.

Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly the favourite for the role, after being sacked by Bayern Munich and looking to wait until the end of the season before returning to management.

However, Keys has told the Blues to instead look towards a third stint with Mourinho at the helm.

He said: “My choice would be Mourinho with John Terry as assistant, and I think Chelsea fans would buy that. I think Mourinho would have the strength to sort this out, I can’t think of too many others.

“Don’t forget with Mourinho. Three times. Respect. He’s still The Special One, look what he’s doing with Roma. They’re third now! They’ve already won a trophy, they’re on course to win another one.”

Terry has recently been named the assistant manager at Leicester City, as Dean Smith looks to complete a rescue act at the bottom of the league.

However, the former defender has always claimed that he would happily return to Stamford Bridge in some sort of coaching capacity.
