Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is yet to make a decision on his future.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
Thiago Silva‘s current contract expires at the end of the season, but Romano has written in his Substack column that “my understanding is that Silva has not decided anything at this stage.”

The Italian journalist has also claimed that the centre-back will not make a decision on his future until next year.
He has been a key player for Chelsea this season, starting in all nine of their Premier League fixtures so far.
Thiago Silva’s age
Silva is now 39 and turns 40 next September, but that has not stopped him from performing in the Premier League.
According to WhoScored, the Brazilian is currently making 4.4 clearances per game, the highest average in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. He is a player who knows how to get rid of danger.
“Thiago is another version of an amazing player who has come here at the back end of his career, has bought into the club, fallen in love with the club I think, had the success of winning the Champions League,” Frank Lampard was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official club website when comparing Silva to John Terry.

Silva is not really showing too many signs of decline. With that in mind, it may make sense for the Blues to give him another contract and keep hold of him.
However, they may want to start looking towards the future and prioritise developing the likes of Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana, for example.
A return to Brazil and seeing out his career there may also appeal to the former Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan defender, so you would not rule anything out at this moment in time.
But if Chelsea are able to keep hold of Silva, then they probably should. They already have a young squad that is lacking experience and real leaders like the centre-half. Even with the kind of money they possess, it is not easy to go out and buy those things, hence why retaining Silva for a little bit longer could be a good decision.
