The quality of Chelsea’s squad often sees them have plenty of representatives when the international break comes around.

Given this one comes just three weeks into the Premier League season, it was likely an unwanted distraction for Enzo Maresca as he continues to get to grips with his new role at Stamford Bridge.

His starting side for the domestic matches has only seen minor changes made to it, with some players yet to really get their opportunity to break into the starting side.

However, one player who has achieved this with his brilliant displays is Noni Madueke, forcing himself into the starting side up to now.

His brilliant form also saw him rewarded with his first senior England call-up, which last night resulted in his national team debut.

Noni Madueke impresses for England

Despite only making a cameo off the bench, Madueke impressed the English media with what he brought to the table.

Sky Sports said: “Grabbed his first senior assist for England by setting Kane up for his second and looked confident at this level. Another decision from Carsley appears to have paid off.”

The Guardian added: “Made an instant impact, laying on Kane’s second goal.”

CaughtOffside gave his performance an 8/10, saying: “A man in form right now and justified his opportunity in this international break with an assist for Kane shortly after coming on. Looked lively throughout.”

Madueke under pressure for his place at Chelsea

Madueke will be under plenty of pressure as soon as he returns to Cobham to keep his place in the side due to the attacking options the club currently possess.

The Blues added Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix to their ranks over the summer, with the Portuguese pairing showing their quality on the international stage too.

Madueke has already given the best statistical performance in Europe this season in the win against Wolves, and will be hungry to add to that on Saturday when his side take on Bournemouth in the return of the Premier League.
