Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez was back in an Argentina shirt last night for the first time since winning the World Cup.

Enzo Fernandez, who was integral in the Argentine’s World Cup success last year in Qatar, started yesterday in a 2-0 victory over Panama.

The 22-year-old Blues midfielder played an hour of football before being substituted off in the international friendly.

Incidentally, Thiago Almada and Lionel Messi scored two late goals to gift the South American giants a win against Panama.

Next, Argentina face Curacao in another friendly match on Tuesday.

Fernandez, who’s been spotted with a new haircut during the international break, is now an integral player for his country.

It’s been quite the rise for the youngster in the last year, with Chelsea spending a British-record sum of £106.8million (Sky Sports) to bring him to Stamford Bridge in January.

He received high praise in the national media for his Argentina performance last night.

GOAL wrote: “Enzo Fernandez (7/10): In his first appearance for his country since his big move,Fernandez was a perfect metronome through his 60 minutes. Set the pace, helped get the ball back, created a chance. Panama couldn’t handle him.”

Chelsea fans are quickly learning just how good Fernandez really is.

His quick adaptation period to the Premier League has been remarkable, making it look like he’s played in the division for years.

The all-action central midfielder appears to be massively appreciated by his teammates in the dressing room.

Kai Havertz recently praised the passing quality of Fernandez. Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic has mentioned the partnership between Chelsea teammates Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic.

The international break is usually torture for club fans, who fear their star players picking up an injury. Don’t worry Blues supporters, it’s just one more game for Fernandez to come through.
