Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella made his 19th appearance for Spain in a dominant win over Turkey, and national media were left very impressed with what they saw from him.

Cucurella’s excellent past two years at Stamford Bridge have seen him become one of the first names on the teamsheet for his country under head coach Luis de la Fuente.

The European Champions followed up their 3-0 win over Bulgaria with a 6-0 victory over Turkey as they continue to prove they are arguably the best country currently playing football.

Cucurella scored against Bulgaria, and while he wasn’t amongst the goals in their most recent World Cup qualifier, the left-back enjoyed another strong display on Monday night.

National media react to ‘machine’ Marc Cucurella’s display for Spain

Chelsea’s number three was named in the Premier League Team of the Month for August, and the excellent start to the season has only continued.

Spanish media outlet Sport were full of praise for the 27-year-old, describing him as a ‘machine’ who contributed all over the pitch.

They said: “To defend, to attack, to help in midfield, to do whatever it takes. There’s the Maresme native, who’s a machine and contributed in every phase of the game.”

Enzo Maresca seems to have unlocked a new side of the defender, who is one of Chelsea’s top scorers in 2025.

Chelsea fans will have complaints at Spain boss

Despite performing very well in both games, Chelsea fans would have loved to have seen less of their left-back during this international break.

Cucurella played every possible minute across the two fixtures, less than a week before the Blues return with a stacked fixture list.

Chelsea are back in Champions League action just days after their first Premier League game back against Brentford, and Maresca will be considering his options when it comes to squad rotation.

Jorrel Hato could make his first Chelsea start in place of the Spaniard, who is likely to be arguably their most important player when they make the trip to Bayern Munich.
