National media really not impressed with Chelsea ‘flop’ despite their win on international duty

The international break has seen the majority of the Chelsea first team squad jet off to represent their countries for the third time already this season.

Blues supporters are likely pretty frustrated that their progress in the Premier League has been halted, with them sitting in the top three of the table after an excellent start under Enzo Maresca.

The boss will no doubt be keeping tabs on all of his players around the world, with them looking to prove that they should be a permanent fixture in his starting side for the foreseeable future.

One player who has held that role up to now this season is Nicolas Jackson. The striker has started every single Premier League game so far this season.

Jackson’s goalscoring record for Senegal is not as impressive as it is for Chelsea. He has just one goal in 18 appearances for his nation.

Nicolas Jackson labelled a ‘flop’ by Senegal media

Last night was another difficult outing on an individual level for him, despite them picking up a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso.

Seneweb listed Jackson as one of the ‘flops’ of the outing, saying he again didn’t perform to the level he frequently does in a Chelsea shirt.

They said: “The Chelsea striker is clearly not the same man in the Blues jersey as he is in the Senegalese one. Against the Burkinabe defence, Jackson still had a lot of trouble getting his head above water.

“Connections with his attacking mates were very rare. In 64 minutes, he only touched the ball 20 times, the lowest total of the starters of both teams, goalkeepers included.”

Chelsea fans will be very impressed with what they have seen from Jackson this season, with him keeping Christopher Nkunku out of the starting side as of late.

Nkunku is reportedly growing frustrated at his lack of minutes at Stamford Bridge, with a potential move away continuing to be reported.

The Frenchman has been forced to earn his minutes in the cup competitions this season, and is the top scorer for the club so far in all competitions.

However, the link-up Jackson has with key players, in particular Cole Palmer, has made him an undroppable member of the starting side up to now.
