An unnamed Premier League agent has claimed that he believes Chelsea made the best sale of the entire transfer window.

He told The Athletic that managing to find a buyer for Kalidou Koulibaly could certainly see it being seen as one of the best deals any English club completed all summer.

It seems a lifetime ago now that Koulibaly was one of the first players sold in what turned out to be a remarkable window in West London.

After just one season at Stamford Bridge, it emerged pretty quickly that the defender was surplus to requirements at the club despite the excitement that came with his addition.

There were fears though about being able to recoup portions of the transfer fee, with his age making it difficult to find a buyer.

That was until Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal made an offer to the Blues that they couldn’t refuse.

Agents think Koulibaly sale was best of the summer

An unnamed agent has now claimed that finding a buyer can be seen as one of the best pieces of business of the summer.

They said: “I was going to say, ‘Could you do the sales?’ Because whoever bought Koulibaly needs their head looking at. That was a market that was never there.

“There was no resale value on him. And somebody has come along and paid money and, as importantly, got you out of the years left on his contract. Actually, maybe that should be the best deal as well!”

Chelsea supporters will feel like they got good money for a number of their sales this summer.

They picked up big fees for Kai Havertz and Mason Mount to name a few, and this allowed them to spend big again in the transfer market.
