Former Chelsea and Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has now shared one stark difference between his time at both clubs.

He told YU Planet that players at Old Trafford would consistently turn up late for training, while those standards would never slip down in West London.

Matic enjoyed a number of solid seasons at Stamford Bridge, winning near enough everything on offer in the domestic game.

However, with the likes of N’golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas still pushing for minutes on a more regular rate, he was deemed surplus to requirements and snapped up by United.

Despite five years there, he never reached the same heights as he did here, and his own comments have now hinted at why that may have been.

He said: “At Chelsea, players acted professionally, they were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day,’

“Among the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and couple of other players.

“The rest of us who were always on time were angry so we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president.

“I put a sheet of paper up on the wall where I documented the names of individuals arriving late. During one particular season we collected around £75,000 in fines.”

The slipping standards at Manchester United in the last decade have been clear for all to see, with it not stopping under current manager Erik ten Hag.

However, the Blues are without a win at Old Trafford since 2013, and are now looking to climb up the table again under Mauricio Pochettino when they face each other tomorrow.
