New Chelsea signing Geovany Quenda ranked as better young player than ‘quality’ youngster who walked out of Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have already put plenty of work into signings before the summer transfer window has even opened.

The Blues have already secured the services of Dario Essugo as a new midfielder, with him expected to provide cover for Moises Caicedo in the first team from next season.

Essugo is not the only player they have brought in from Sporting Lisbon, with Chelsea also agreeing a big money move for Geovany Quenda.

The youngster was scouted thoroughly by Manchester United, however it was the Blues who swooped in to complete the deal for one of the top talents in Europe.

It was reported that Enzo Maresca played a key role in Quenda joining, and he is expected to be a part of the first team from the end of the 2025/26 season.

Geovany Quenda the 11th most promising youngster in world football

The excitement over his future is summed up by his place in Goal’s NXGN top 50 promising youngsters, with him ranking number 11.

This is ahead of Kendry Paez, who is another top youngster expected to join the Blues at the end of this season.

He is also ahead of Tyler Dibling, a player who was briefly on the books at Stamford Bridge before moving back to Southampton.

The young winger has impressed greatly in the Premier League this season despite his side’s impending relegation, with Danny Murphy describing him as ‘quality’.

Why did Tyler Dibling leave Chelsea?

Chelsea agreed a fee for Dibling in 2022, however by the end of the same summer transfer window he had returned to the Saints.

It was reported by The Athletic that the winger had struggled to settle with the Blues, and had begged for the opportunity to go back to his former side, which was eventually agreed.

Chelsea have been linked with signing Dibbing since this too of the back of his excellent start to life as a first team player, however are more likely to look in another direction when it comes to signing attackers next summer.

The Blues will already be welcoming Estevao Willian to the club, and Quenda is also expected to play on the wing when he eventually moves to Stamford Bridge.
