Newcastle United star Dan Burn has made some interesting comments after coming up against Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson at the weekend.
Chelsea beat Newcastle 2-1 on Sunday in the Premier League to move up to fifth in the table, with Nicolas Jackson proving his importance to his side.
Yet again, Jackson played a crucial role for the Blues in their victory at Stamford Bridge. He scored the opener to put himself on six goals in nine league appearances this season, plus he’s created three assists.
Chelsea fans believe Jackson is a better striker than Newcastle’s Alexander Isak after watching the duo on the same pitch. While both players did get on the scoresheet, the overall link-up play and more eye-catching work was done by the Blues ace.

Dan Burn impressed by Nicolas Jackson
Newcastle centre-back Dan Burn, 32, was in direct competition with Chelsea’s Jackson a couple of days ago. In fairness, the experienced defender has since paid credit to the Blues frontman.
Burn told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I think Chelsea are playing really well at the minute, they’re on fire. I think Jackson looks really sharp. He’s scoring goals. When you’ve got a player like Cole Palmer on your team, yeah it’s difficult.”
We’re not surprised to hear Burn speak highly of Jackson after the weekend because the Toon centre-half was tormented by him throughout the recent meeting. In particular, he couldn’t deal with the attacker’s speed and movement when he dropped deeper.
A huge Chelsea bargain
Jackson’s had to deal with his fair share of criticism since he arrived in English football last summer, but he’s starting to silence his doubters with recent performances.
Chelsea paid £32m (The Guardian) to sign Jackson from Villarreal in the summer of 2023. When you now look at that transfer deal, it’s beginning to seem like a fantastic piece of business from the Blues.
So far, Jackson’s scored 23 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions since arriving at Stamford Bridge. He’s really maturing and improving under Enzo Maresca this season, too.
We still feel like the Senegal international can be far more ruthless in front of goal at times, but supporters are seeing his all-round game is top notch and he’s so difficult for opponents to face with his movement.
