Nicolas Jackson and Alexander Isak are two of the best centre-forwards in the Premier League and went toe-to-toe in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Newcastle United on Sunday.
Both players managed to score, with Nicolas Jackson putting the Blues in front before Alexander Isak equalised for his side.
It was Jackson’s sixth goal of the season and Isak’s second, but the latter managed to outscore the former last term. In total, he netted 21 times in the Premier League, while Jackson registered on 14 occasions for Chelsea.
Blues fans have now been discussing which striker is better, with Isak being linked to Chelsea.

Chelsea fans on Nicolas Jackson
While Isak may have outscored Jackson last season, for many Chelsea supporters, the Senegal international is the superior No.9.
@KaimonMarcellas said: “I’ll say it again, other than Haaland, no striker in the Prem is better. Watkins of last season is the only other one, Isak is good but Jackson>>>>”.
@Ronz258 wrote: “Going into the game, there was a question of whether you would take Isak over Jackson. After it, there’s no debate right now. I’m sticking with Jackson.”
And finally, @CFCBen posted: “Jackson is a better striker than Isak.”
Enzo Maresca has been the key factor in Jackson’s success this season, according to Arsenal legend David Seaman.
Alexander Isak a better finisher than Jackson
Isak is way more calm and composed in front of goal than Jackson, and that is reflected in his numbers from last season.
Simply put, the 25-year-old is a better finisher than Chelsea’s leading striker. However, Jackson’s all-round game is arguably superior.
Jackson can hold up the ball, run with it and set up his teammates. He already has three assists in the Premier League this season.
Jackson is also a couple of years younger than Isak. If he is not a better centre-forward than Isak, then he is probably on his way to surpassing him.
If the former Villarreal man can get his finishing up to Isak’s level, then it will not be a debate. And looking at how well he has taken some of his goals this season, such as his brace against West Ham United, it seems more than possible.
Jackson was recently described as a “rough diamond” by former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.
