Former Premier League stars Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes both agree that Chelsea youngster Estevao Willian is destined for big things.

At the weekend, Estevao Willian properly announced himself at Chelsea by scoring his first competitive goal for the club. He netted the winner in stoppage time to beat reigning champions Liverpool in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer with a lot of expectation, and he’s had no issue settling into Enzo Maresca’s squad so far.

Daniel Sturridge has been majorly impressed by Estevao, claiming that the right-winger already has maturity beyond his years with how he plays. He should certainly be joining up with Brazil’s squad during this international break with an extra spring in his step.

Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes both so excited by Estevao Willian

Former Manchester United midfielders Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes have tipped Chelsea’s Estevao for a very successful future because the teenager already looks a top player.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football, Butt said: “He’s a young Brazilian lad. He’s one of the thousands that they produce all the time, and he just looks like he’s going to be a superstar. 18 years of age, coming in the back post, scores the winner. It’s great for him. Unbelievable day.”

Scholes then added: “He’s exciting. Like you said, a maverick player. Someone who comes and gets you off the edge of your seat. Beating people, scoring goals, creating goals.”

Gus Poyet’s message to Estevao is to find consistency and reach the same level as Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal.

Of course, Chelsea’s rising star is quite a way behind Barcelona’s 18-year-old ace. It will be fascinating to see how both their careers develop in the coming years.

Estevao Willian’s lofty targets at Chelsea

Back in August, Estevao publicly shared his targets at Chelsea after arriving at his new home.

The ambitious teenager has his eyes set on winning both the Premier League and Champions League with the Blues. Also, he admitted his individual aim is to develop into the world’s best player.

It is important that Chelsea supporters don’t get too carried away with the pressure on Estevao, but it certainly sounds like he’s putting that on himself.

Maresca still hasn’t allowed the Brazilian star to complete 90 minutes this season, so it may still take some time before he’s fully fit and firing.
