Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has just reflected on his first season in English football with an honest verdict.
Nicolas Jackson, who’s now 23, joined Chelsea last summer from Villarreal.
Interestingly, the young striker ended up leading the line as the main No.9 at the club during his debut campaign. If you look at things this season, he’s once again the senior centre-forward in the Blues squad.
Journalist Matt Law recently claimed on the ‘London is Blue’ podcast that Chelsea weren’t convinced Ivan Toney would be an upgrade on Jackson, which shows a big sign of faith in their player. Now, they’ve gone one step further by giving him a two-year contract extension.
Chelsea confirmed via their official website on Friday afternoon that Jackson has penned a new deal that keeps him at the club until 2033.

Nicolas Jackson comments on his goal return
Jackson has been speaking after signing a fresh contract in west London. In particular, he’s commented on his goalscoring last season.
The central attacker ended up with 17 goals across all competitions last season for Chelsea, which included 14 goals in the Premier League.
“The first season for any player or any striker that comes to Chelsea is not easy, but I did okay,” Jackson said via Chelsea’s official website.
“I am not very happy with 17 goals because I played the whole season without injuries, but it’s okay. I did good, now I hope to continue and do amazing. I am still in the learning process, learning every day, and trying to improve what I can do, and work on what I cannot do.”
What to expect this season
For Jackson, he should be completely buoyed right now and confident of achieving big things this year.
The forward has signed a new deal to highlight more trust from the club. Even more importantly, Chelsea didn’t sign a high-profile striker in the summer window, and that leaves him in pole position to lead the line on a weekly basis.
Jackson has started the new season with two goals in three league matches. We’re optimistic he’ll continue be among the goals when you see the upcoming top-flight fixtures.
