Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea have not been in contact with Edouard Mendy about a new contract since the World Cup.
The goalkeeper has lost his place as the number one at Stamford Bridge in extraordinary circumstances to Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Spaniard looked set to see his Chelsea career come to an end with a whimper as there looked no route back to him featuring in West London.

An injury to Mendy when Graham Potter took over saw his tenure at the helm start with the £72m man in goal, and he hasn’t looked back since.
A string of fine performances and even better individual saves have seen Mendy stuck on the sidelines when he has been fit.
An uninspiring World Cup campaign will not have done his chances of returning between the sticks anytime soon.
Chelsea not talking to Mendy
The tournament is also important when it comes to the future of the 30-year-old. Kinsella has claimed that there has been no contact regarding a new deal since the festival of football.
He said: “Thiago Silva expected to renew deal +1. Mount talks remain at a stalemate, potential for future sale.
“Mendy, no contact since before the World Cup, no talks with Kovacic. Gallagher renewal also inactive, clubs circling to poach him.”

It has been widely reported that a goalkeeper is on the agenda for the Blues in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The likes of David Raya and Robert Sanchez have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with the former approaching the end of his contract at Brentford.
With less than 18 months remaining on his deal, he may be available for a cut-price deal and should definitely be considered as a strong option going forwards.
