Levi Colwill has now shared what Ashley Cole told him as the Chelsea defender begins to realise his immense potential.

The 20-year-old made the comments when speaking to The Athletic.

So, what did Ashley Cole tell Levi Colwill? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the pair have just won the Under-21 European Championships together in Georgia.

Cole, working as a coach under Lee Carsley, guided the likes of Noni Madueke, Emile Smith Rowe and Colwill to glory with his tactical advice, telling the latter one interesting thing in particular.

As quoted by The Athletic, the England Under-21 international said: “Ash gave me a big bit of advice. It’s when I try to break lines and I hit a pass with a lot of power. Normally my right foot goes in front of the ball. He showed that to me, I hadn’t even noticed.

“I thought ‘what are you on about?’ but he showed me the clips. The next day in training, I made a pass with my right foot behind the ball. I couldn’t thank him enough. It’s those little things that no one had ever told me.”

Whatever Cole was telling Colwill throughout the Under-21 European Championships in addition to this, it worked a treat.

England’s Under-21 side went through the entire tournament without conceding a single goal.

Colwill – aside from 90 minutes against Germany – played every second of the competition, so he can give himself a pat on the back for his role in that fine achievement.

Chelsea could lose Colwill

It is not entirely guaranteed that Colwill starts the 2023/24 campaign at Chelsea.

While The Times believe Mauricio Pochettino loves the centre-back and wants him to be offered a new contract, a story from talkSPORT claims that Brighton are willing to spend as much as £40m on his services.

Madueke moved to ease fears surrounding Colwill by telling Chelsea fans live on Instagram that both of them would be coming back to Stamford Bridge, which prompted a laugh and a shake of the head from the defender.

Hopefully, Chelsea manage to keep hold of their academy graduate this summer, as he looks capable of becoming one of the best players in the Premier League.
