Kevin Campbell believes Kepa Arrizabalaga is the only Chelsea player who comes close to getting into the current Arsenal XI.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Campbell could make a case for Kepa and nobody else when asked if any of Graham Potter’s side displace Mikel Arteta’s best 11.
As a collective, the Gunners are admittedly ahead of Potter’s men in terms of progression.
Arteta has been in charge of Arsenal for nearly two-years, allowing him time to mould and blend the squad together.
Several tough moments were thrown at the former midfielder, but he is now reaping the rewards of sticking to his philosophy.
His team are currently first in the Premier League, with a starting team awash with quality from back to front.
Across town, Potter is right at the beginning of his reign, as he continues to establish his identity at Chelsea.
Because of the transition period, many members of the Stamford Bridge cohort are yet to hit the heights under their new boss.
Players might have a good game here and a decent performance there, but the consistency is still lacking across the board.
Campbell cuts out Chelsea from Arsenal XI
“None (get into the Arsenal team) at the moment,” responded Campbell.
“It is harsh, but I think the only one who has played up to standard, or maybe above, is Kepa. Kepa has been outstanding.
“But when you look at what Arsenal have done this season, the numbers, where they are in the table, I don’t think any Chelsea player gets into that 11.”
Now, Kevin, whilst we agree Arsenal have been better recently, we cannot fully agree with your statement.
Forgot a certain Thiago Silva by any chance? How about the ever-reliable Trevoh Chalobah?
Mateo Kovacic is usually a 7/10 or above most weeks, so he certainly deserves a shout.
But at least we can see eye-to-eye on Kepa, who has been transformed since being reinstated by Potter to the number one goalkeeper position.
