His header right on the goal line saw Trevoh Chalobah robbed of a comeback goal, however saw him make it four against the same opposition for this season.

Tuchel will have been impressed with what he saw from both players, however with Bukayo Saka out injured Madueke may never have a better chance to establish himself.

He spoke after the game of how he had spoken to the England manager during the week and what he had told him to do at Stamford Bridge.

He said to Sky Sports: “I spoke to him earlier on this week and we kind of had a laugh about the game.

Last night saw a rare occasion where Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto both started on the wings together.

The Portugal international was forced to feature in his less preferred role of left-wing, and it’s fair to say the Blues improved a fair bit when Jadon Sancho was brought in there.

Maresca has chop and changed between the two players this season, however right now it is Madueke who is in the far better form.

His link up with Palmer has remained a crucial part of the Chelsea attack, with the central man feeding him numerous times to great effect last night.
