Pundit Danny Murphy has claimed that he is not a big fan of Mauricio Pochettino’s lemon strategy to attempt to suck the bad energy out of Chelsea.

He told TalkSPORT that he feels these factors are controlled by the people around the club, as opposed to any external factors.

Pochettino has in high spirits claimed on multiple occasions in his managerial career that he uses lemons at clubs he works at, as he believes they are good for sucking bad energy away from the surroundings.

Unfortunately for Chelsea fans, this doesn’t seem to have worked to a great extent so far, with them picking up very much where they left off last season.

Murphy not buying Pochettino’s lemons

It has been just one win from a relatively friendly opening six games, and fears are really starting to pick up about their future as the matches take a turn for the worse.

Murphy has claimed that Pochettino cannot keep pointing to the lemons when discussing how to get the good feeling back to Stamford Bridge.

He said: “The good energy and bad energy – I think you can feel that sometimes. But I don’t think an external thing matters to take it away. Your good energy can rub off on others.

“It’s just a get out. It’s nonsense. I hope it was just a distraction. The biggest problem you’ve got as a manager is when you start talking about things like that. You should leave yourself open to ridicule in the dressing room.”

It may well be a domestic cup run that brings some positivity back to the club, and they will be given their opportunity to do so tomorrow night when they fact Brighton in the EFL Cup.
