Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is definitely not having the worst season.
The 22-year-old has reached double figures for goals, scoring 11 times in 30 appearances.
However, Nicolas Jackson has told Chelsea’s official website that he should have netted more than 11 goals based on the chances that he has had.
The centre-forward has acknowledged that he has missed a lot of opportunities this term and needs to do better.
Mauricio Pochettino recently revealed that Jackson has been watching videos of other strikers, including Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Nicolas Jackson admits he should be doing better
Jackson feels he should have scored more goals by this point of the season.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Brentford, he said: “It’s not enough because I have missed a lot. For me, I should have a lot more, but every game I try to make the team win and help my team-mates. My team-mates have helped me as well so every game, even if I don’t score, I want to win.
“I have missed a lot of chances. I should have more than 11 goals, but for me, it is just the beginning and I’m just starting to feel pleased in England. I keep moving forward.”

Nicolas Jackson has missed a lot of chances
There is no denying it. Jackson has wasted some glorious opportunities this term.
According to WhoScored, his xG in the Premier League is 12.19, but the Senegal international has only scored eight goals, giving him an xG difference of -4.19.
There is clearly much work for Jackson to do, but he has at least acknowledged that. And while the former Villarreal man could have scored more goals in the current campaign, 11 in total in his first season in England is not terrible.
By May, he could actually have quite a decent return. Of course, if Chelsea want to get back to the top, then they may need to sign a truly elite No.9
But even the arrival of someone like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, for example, would not necessarily make Jackson redundant. We think he has shown enough this season to be a deputy to whoever comes in in the summer if Chelsea do decide to buy a new centre-forward.
