Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea believe that Armando Broja has the quality to be an important player for the club in the future.

He took to YouTube to state that he is not for sale, as well as why they decided over the summer that he was not for sale despite interest from a number of sides.

Broja made his return to first team action at the weekend when he was introduced off the bench against Aston Villa.

Mauricio Pochettino named this as the only real positive of the match, with him substituted on to the 1-0 loss when they were down to 10 men.

The manager has claimed that he is not yet fit to start a game, however he will certainly have an opportunity to claim the starting place after Nicolas Jackson’s early season misfiring.

Broja not for sale

Romano has claimed that the club are convinced that he can be an important figure for the club not just for this season, but for the future too.

He said: “For Armando Broja, it is really important for him to be back and play some minutes and return to his level. It is important to mention that over the summer two clubs approached Chelsea – AC Milan and West Ham – and one more club from abroad, really interested in Armando Broja.

“Chelsea discussed internally about the situation but then their position was very clear – Armando Broja is not for sale. They trust him, they want to keep the player at the club. They believe that he can be an important player for many years, not just for this season.”

A change up front may be good for all parties, with Chelsea desperately needing someone to find the net on a regular basis.

A break from the first team for Jackson may also be beneficial for him.
