Ally McCoist has delivered his verdict on Conor Gallagher by suggesting he seriously needs to consider his Chelsea future.
Gallagher, 22, has been with the Blues first team so far this season off the back of a brilliant loan last year with rivals Crystal Palace.
The England midfielder has unfortunately had a really tough start to the season, which included his red card in the weekend’s win against Leicester City. Therefore, he’s suspended to face Southampton tonight in the club’s next Premier League game.
There’s been a lot of excitement around what Chelsea’s academy graduate can give Thomas Tuchel’s squad, but the jump up to the main team has looked pretty steep during the past month.

Ally McCoist on Conor Gallagher
TalkSPORT pundit McCoist thinks Gallagher has to at least contemplate leaving Stamford Bridge during this final week of the transfer window.
“He’s got to think about himself, his future. He had a brilliant period at Palace, a top-class time there. Clearly, Patrick Vieira would take him back in two minutes,” McCoist told talkSPORT.
“Will he play consistently enough in that Chelsea team? Will he play consistently enough to get in the [England] squad for Qatar? Not so sure to be honest. It’s amazing, I think he’s got a better chance going to Qatar if he plays with Palace. I can see him being a mainstay in that side, whereas I’m not sure he will be at Chelsea. It’s a big decision he’s got to make.”
“I think he’s only going to continue to improve. He’s an excellent player.”

Gallagher’s future
With the summer window closing on Thursday night, fans don’t have long to find out Gallagher’s immediate future.
It’s been claimed Crystal Palace have launched a late £27million bid to try sign Chelsea’s central midfielder and bring him back to Selhurst Park on a permanent basis.
However, it’s reported elsewhere that Blues manager Tuchel views Gallagher as the best like-for-like replacement in the next few weeks for injured teammate N’Golo Kante.
It would be incredibly harsh to get rid of Gallagher based off nothing more than a slow start to the new season.
He’s adapting to new teammates and a new role at Chelsea, so selling him would be a mistake they live to regret.
