Xabi Alonso’s success at Bayer Leverkusen has seen Chelsea linked to a number of their players this summer, although one of their key stars is now set to join Atletico Madrid.
After an underwhelming spell in charge of Real Madrid, it has to be said that Chelsea are hoping for the Leverkusen version of Alonso when he arrives at Stamford Bridge.
His side won the treble in Germany, and people are already comparing some of the current Chelsea squad to those who performed brilliantly for the Bundesliga side.

Alejandro Grimaldo set to join Atletico Madrid despite Chelsea links
Many are tipping Cole Palmer to replicate the performances of Florian Wirtz, who secured a Premier League record move to Liverpool off the back of his personal success.
The rest of the creativity in that side came mostly from Alejandro Grimaldo. The left-back contributed a staggering 10 goals and 13 assists in the league during their title-winning season.

Grimaldo has been linked to Chelsea, however journalist Matteo Moretto has stated that he is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.
He said: “Atlético de Madrid and Bayer are already negotiating to reach an agreement on the figures for Alejandro Grimaldo.
“The German club wants an amount around 25 million euros, including bonuses, while Atlético does not want to go beyond 18/20 million, bonuses included, with a low fixed base of about 10/13 million euros.
“The negotiations are ongoing. The good relations between both clubs can facilitate the success of the negotiation. Grimaldo wants to return to Spain and is delighted to wear the Atlético shirt.”
Atletico were one of the sides who were linked with signing Marc Cucurella before he eventually made his move to city rivals Real Madrid.

Chelsea looking to sign a new defender this summer
Despite having faith in Jorrel Hato, Chelsea look like they are light of options in the left-back position going into the new season.
The Blues have been linked with an extraordinary return for Lewis Hall after he was sold by the club to Newcastle two years ago.
It is believed that the two parties would have to mend a broken relationship in order to get the deal done, after Chelsea didn’t show the initial faith in him.
However, the signing would be a fantastic sign of intent from the club, and proof they can still attract top prospects despite not having European football for next season.
