Stephen Warnock picked out Chelsea duo Jorginho and Kai Havertz for praise after the pair combined superbly well this afternoon to help beat Newcastle United in the Premier League contest.

It was a league game at Stamford Bridge that took place at a time when everyone’s focus is on the off-field drama involving sanctions and a potential takeover.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea had to battle hard against an impressive Newcastle side, who were convinced they should have had a penalty just shy of the hour mark.

However, it was the Blues that eventually broke the deadlock with Havertz’s 89th minute winner.

BBC pundit Warnock was left mesmerised by the goal, which was teed up with a fabulously weighted pass from Jorginho to assist his teammate.

“It’s outstanding from Jorginho and Kai Havertz [for Chelsea’s goal],” Warnock told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“The first touch with his left foot is absolutely out of this world. He stops it dead and then flicks it with the outside of his foot, past the helpless Martin Dubravka.

“A moment of quality that has been missing from the game. We have just seen the best moment from Kai Havertz.”

Chelsea form going under the radar

It’s easy to overlook how great the team’s form has been in the last couple of months due to the hectic news surrounding the club.

Tuchel’s side are currently on a streak of five wins in a row in the Premier League to really help consolidate third in the table. They have every chance to extend that run when you consider the next league matches are against Brentford, Southampton and Leeds United, too.

Chelsea’s German boss continues to deliver the goods even when the odds are against him.

It’s astonishing to see his impact in just over a year at the club, and any new ownership at Stamford Bridge needs to secure the long-term future of the manager.
