Paul Merson admits he’s just heard something from Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino that has worried him.
There was even more disappointment on Sunday for everyone associated with Chelsea, losing 1-0 at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League.
It’s now just one win in the opening six Premier League games, and the gap to the top teams in the division already looks huge in September.
For Mauricio Pochettino, he’s enduring a tough start to life as the new individual in the manager’s dugout.
Sky Sports pundit Merson thinks Pochettino’s comments at the weekend urging for patience is a very worrying sign.
“Even Mauricio Pochettino is coming out and is now saying: ‘It’s a process, you have to be patient’. When a manager comes out and says that, it shows they are starting to get a bit panicky. Even he doesn’t think it was meant to be like this,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If he is saying that already, it’s a worry. I hope he gets that patience and time, they have injuries too. But I’m worried.”
There’s been a revolving doors for managers at Chelsea in recent times, so you never quite know what to expect during a bad string of results.
We feel Pochettino’s definitely got a good amount of time to dig the Blues out of a hole after walking into a difficult role during the summer.
It’s obvious the Blues need a result or two to settle everybody at the club, including the players and the fanbase.
The Daily Mail reported that Pochettino told his Chelsea players in the dressing room straight after the Villa defeat he’s got faith in them to turn things around. Let’s hope everyone sticks together during this rough period.
