Paul Merson has suggested that Chelsea should go all out and sign a Premier League attacker this summer.
Chelsea’s owners have not been shy to spend big so far in this current transfer window, which has been a common theme since they arrived two years ago.
The Blues have been busy recruiting again for new head coach Enzo Maresca, adding the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen and Pedro Neto to the group.
While Paul Merson has suggested signing a Premier League forward, Chelsea are actually linked with a Serie A star instead. TEAMtalk reports this week that Chelsea could offer Napoli striker Victor Osimhen massive wages, with talks ongoing this week about a potential transfer.

Paul Merson tells Chelsea to sign Alexander Isak
Merson thinks Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is the right profile in this window for Chelsea or Arsenal. In terms of the Blues, they would finish in the top four with the 24-year-old frontman leading their line.
“Newcastle have done well to keep Alexander Isak and Bruno Gumaraes, at the moment,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If I was a Chelsea or an Arsenal, I’d be breaking the bank for Isak. If Chelsea got Isak, they’d be certainty for a top-four finish. If Arsenal got him, they’d win the league.”
Of course, Isak would be a phenomenal recruit for any side in the Premier League division. The centre-forward scored 25 goals in 40 games across all competitions last season for Newcastle.
Chelsea links with Alexander Isak
Interestingly, Chelsea have been linked with Newcastle’s Isak in the transfer rumour mill this summer, albeit there’s been no recent speculation.
Chronicle Live claimed at the end of June that Chelsea made a fresh enquiry to Newcastle about signing Isak. Apparently, it would take a ‘sensational’ bid for the Toon to sell the Swedish centre-forward, though.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph says that Newcastle want more than £150m to sell Isak this summer.
As it stands, Chelsea are going into this new season with Nicolas Jackson, Marc Guiu and Christopher Nkunku as the main options for the striker position.
