Paul Scholes has questioned why Manchester United didn’t beat Chelsea to signing one player last summer.

We’ve seen Chelsea be extremely active in transfer windows over the recent years. In particular, the business under the current Blues owners has been somewhat chaotic.

There’s been a huge mix of hits and misses in the signings, but Enzo Maresca is now in a position where he’s coaching a talented group of young players.

Paul Scholes wishes Manchester United beat Chelsea to Cole Palmer

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has shared that he’s a massive admirer of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. In fact, he’s asked why didn’t his former club try to bring him to Old Trafford last summer when he left Manchester City and moved to Stamford Bridge.

When discussing Palmer on The Overlap, Scholes said: “He’s been brilliant. I think he’s brilliant. He’s a big [Manchester] United fan as well. How did we miss him? We wouldn’t be 14th in the league if he’d come.

“Brilliant player, some talent. Goals, assists, he’s got everything.”

Without doubt, Palmer already goes down as one of Chelsea’s most impressive signings for the impact he’s made in such a short space of time. Hopefully, this is just the start for the England attacker as well.

Cole Palmer the Manchester United fan

It’s public knowledge that Palmer, 22, was a Man United fan growing up as a child, something he’s admitted in various interviews.

Gary Neville said Palmer’s success at Chelsea is tough for Man United because of his childhood support for the Red Devils.

The Manchester-born attacker actually came through the academy system at Man City. Now, it’s Chelsea that are benefiting from his super talent because he’s the star man in the capital.

Palmer has certainly carried the momentum from his debut year with the Blues into this second season with the club.

We’ve got no doubt Palmer would be head and shoulders the best player in the Man United dressing room right now. In fairness, it’s exactly the same where he is because he’s the leading talisman in the Chelsea squad.
