Paul Scholes thinks Chelsea have made an impressive start to life under Enzo Maresca, but he’s admitted that there’s still a couple of positions at the club that concerns him.
The Chelsea boss has made an encouraging start to life at Stamford Bridge this season. As it stands, the Blues are doing well in cup competitions, plus they’ve collected 10 points from their opening five games in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca is beginning to build a new-look team that is free-scoring and plays with lots of intensity.
Chelsea fans may be interested to hear that Maresca fired up his players before Tuesday’s 5-0 win over Barrow by asking them to show how serious they are this season. The end result was a demolition of the League Two club in the Carabao Cup third round.

Paul Scholes concern for Chelsea
Premier League and Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has complimented Chelsea for their start to the season. However, he’s still hesitant about them in a couple of positions.
Scholes still has doubts about Chelsea in the No.9 role, which is currently filled by Nicolas Jackson. On top of that, he’s worried about the goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez.
Scholes said via The Overlap: “We were saying Maresca is going to be the first one gone. These results have almost calmed things down. You look at the squad there is a lot of talent. I’m a little bit worried about the centre-forward to be honest. I’m worried about the keeper a little bit.”
Robert Sanchez and Nicolas Jackson in great form
In fairness, Sanchez and Jackson are both performing well this season at opposite ends of the pitch.
In terms of Sanchez, many people may be surprised to see he’s regained his starting position in-between the sticks this season. However, the change of management has been fantastic for the Spanish keeper.
Sanchez, 26, has played every minute of the opening five league matches this campaign, keeping two clean sheets so far.
Speaking recently via talkSPORT, Danny Murphy defended Chelsea’s Sanchez by saying he rates him as a goalkeeper.
As for Jackson, he’s already netted four Premier League goals to make it an impressive start. The 23-year-old striker will be used to the criticism he gets in the media, but the youngster’s only getting better and starting to silence a lot of people with the quality of his performances in attack.
