Chelsea scored eight unanswered goals yesterday as they thrashed Armenian club Noah in Europe.

Chelsea ran riot at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night by winning 8-0 at home to Noah in the Conference League group stages.

Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea manager, made 11 changes for the midweek clash as he continues his policy to heavily rotate between league and cup games. So far, it’s worked out pretty well because the Blues have three wins from three to put them top of the Conference League group.

Peter Crouch impressed by Mykhailo Mudryk after latest Chelsea display

Peter Crouch waxed lyrical about Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk after his eye-catching performance versus Noah on Thursday evening.

The 23-year-old winger got on the scoresheet with arguably the pick of the goals, bending his shot from outside the box into the top corner.

“He looks more confident. There was a period last year that you felt like his confidence looked shot to pieces. You felt like he was hiding and didn’t want the ball. Even when he had the ball he would lose it and there was an air of ‘we’ve wasted a lot of money’,” Crouch told TNT Sports 1 (10:15pm, 7 November).

“He’s getting his confidence back. He’s looking sharper. He’s effecting games and scoring goals. He needs to take it into the big games.”

Mudryk has a case to start Chelsea’s Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday following a really positive contribution in Europe.

The Ukraine international hasn’t found it easy during his Blues career to stay in the team. In fact, he finds himself in the B-team right now. There’s no doubt that he’s beginning to find some form and rhythm this season, though.

Chelsea still have faith Mudryk is a ‘top-level talent’, so it would be great if he can fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge.

Mykhailo Mudryk shining in the Conference League

Many supporters turn their nose up at Chelsea in the Conference League tournament this year, but they need to take it seriously because they’re in it on merit.

It’s turning out to be an extremely valuable competition for certain Blues stars to build some momentum.

Here is a look at Mudryk’s form in the Conference League group stages this season:

If Mudryk can take his cup form into the league, it might not be long before he’s pushing to start in the best XI. It’s encouraging for the rapid attacker that he’s at least been used off the bench in the last couple of top-flight matches.
