Peter Crouch has made his score prediction ahead of tonight’s cup tie between Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Chelsea host league rivals Aston Villa on Friday evening in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Blues have done well in domestic cup competitions so far this season, booking their spot in the Carabao Cup final earlier this week. They’ll face familiar foes Liverpool in February’s final at Wembley Stadium.

Now, they’ve got to overcome an impressive Villa outfit that sit fourth in the Premier League. They lost against them at Stamford Bridge earlier in the campaign, too.

Peter Crouch think Villa will beat Chelsea tonight. Incidentally, it would be a third consecutive victory over them if Unai Emery’s side do succeed.

Crouch said via his podcast: “It feels like they’re one loss away from something really catastrophic and Chelsea are in that boat. Against a Villa side… I still think they’re a top side and have been all season. That’s why I’m going 2-1 Villa.”

Chelsea vs Aston Villa

Chelsea haven’t lost a game at home since 28 October versus Brentford, so it’s been great to see Stamford Bridge becoming a bit of a fortress again. Incidentally, they’ve scored 11 goals in their last three matches in front of their home fans.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team still have a long way to go to convince the many doubters, but they’re certainly moving in the right direction recently.

The Chelsea Chronicle has predicted the starting line-up that Pochettino may select at home to Villa.

We anticipate some changes because of the quick three day turnaround after beating Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, but it’s going to take a strong XI and performance to overcome Villa.

With zero European football this campaign, the importance of the domestic cups has taken on more significance. We’d be really disappointed to exit the FA Cup in the fourth round phase later today.

We feel like Pochettino can ease the pressure that comes from mediocre league form with deep cup runs.
