Player who left Chelsea in 2022 says he still watches every Blues game he can

Charly Musonda has shared that he still tries to watch every Chelsea game he can.

Charly Musonda, who’s now playing in Cyprus with Anorthosis, spent a decade on Chelsea’s books between 2012-2022.

The Belgian attacker developed in the Blues academy before a first-team introduction, but a career wrecked by numerous injuries certainly didn’t help his cause.

He played just seven senior games in Chelsea colours and went out on loan to three separate clubs.

It’s great to see he’s found a new home this season and is playing games in the last few weeks.

Chelsea gains a fan

Musonda has spoken during an in-depth interview with The Athletic about his time with Chelsea.

Apparently, the 27-year-old said he still watches every Blues match he can. He’s proud watching the success of some former teammates, too.

When discussing his biggest regret about his time at Stamford Bridge, Musonda added: “It’s not like I had that moment, that stage where it was given to you and you didn’t take it. That’s not the feeling I have of my time at Chelsea… and that’s what’s frustrating.”

The pieces never came together for him in West London at the right time, but he’s now injury-free and back to playing football.

On his day, he’s a very skilful winger with lots of pace and tricks. It would be great to see him carve out a decent career for himself now in European football.

Blues system

We hope that there’s no more players that get stuck into the cycle of being Chelsea-owned players for a long time without getting much football.

Our concern is it’ll happen far more often because of the way this ownership is dishing out long-term contract at will.

Speaking via FIVE’s YouTube channel this week, Rio Ferdinand voiced his intrigue to see what the future look like at Stamford Bridge with all these long deals.

There’s only so many players that can fit in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad at any one time.
