RB Leipzig prepared to replace Benjamin Sesko with Chelsea forward who hasn’t featured for over 18 months

Chelsea are expected to prioritise selling players in the next few weeks, and they could be about to part ways with a forgotten attacker this summer.

The Blues have already conducted a lot of their business ahead of and during the Club World Cup, and many of those players made an impact on their road to winning the competition.

Joao Pedro found the net in the final, building on his electric start to life in a Chelsea shirt after he scored twice against Fluminense in the semi-finals.

Pedro’s impact, as well as the addition of Liam Delap, has left the future uncertain for Nicolas Jackson. The Senegal international didn’t feature in the final of the Club World Cup.

RB Leipzig eye Armando Broja as Benjamin Sesko replacement

Benjamin Sesko has previously been a name linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and the RB Leipzig striker does look set for a move away this summer, even if it is not to Chelsea.

In their quest to find a replacement, it seems they have turned their attention to West London and a potential replacement in the form of Armando Broja.

Chelsea have received numerous enquiries for Broja after it has become clear he is not in Enzo Maresca’s plans going forward.

According to The Athletic, Leipzig are interested in signing Broja this summer, with fellow Bundesliga side Stuttgart also considering making a move.

A number of unsuccessful loan spells at Everton and Fulham have not helped the Albania international convince those at Stamford Bridge that he should be given another chance to succeed.

It has been over two years now since Broja made an appearance for Chelsea. His last Premier League appearance came in January 2024 under Mauricio Pochettino.

A month ago it was reported that Chelsea were looking for £20m to sell Broja, however it feels unlikely anyone will come with a bid of that magnitude for him.

The academy graduate has struggled greatly with injuries during his first team career, and the hope will be that a move away can see him finally begin to reach the potential many saw of him when he was a youngster at Chelsea.
