Chelsea youngster Alex Matos has just reached a landmark achievement in his career by making his first-team debut.
Alex Matos, who actually turns 19 today, made his first senior appearance last night in Chelsea’s 2-0 win away to Fulham in the Premier League.
The English winger entered the action during stoppage time to make his first outing at the top level, which he’ll hope will be the first of many.
He’s been a regular starter in midfield for the Blues Under-21s side at the start of the season, so it’s great to see first-team boss Mauricio Pochettino is keeping the door open for the academy rising stars.
In fairness, the average of the senior squad is so young we expect youngsters could integrate a bit easier into the fold at Cobham than in previous years.

Matos uploaded a post on Instagram yesterday after making his first-team debut.
The Blues teenage should be delighted to see first-team stars such as Reece James and Carney Chukwuemeka both reply in the comment section.
James wrote: “Happy for you bro.”
Chukwuemeka added: “Congrats my lil bro.”

Matos should be even hungrier now to impress in the Under-21s now he’s had a tiny taste of first-team football.
Our eyes immediately turn towards next month’s Carabao Cup fourth round fixture against Championship club Blackburn Rovers, where we wonder if Pochettino will be looking to give some academy talents more senior minutes.
