Reece James is definitely one Chelsea player who is happy to see Benoit Badiashile back in action again.

Benoit Badiashile made his first appearance of the season yesterday after returning from injury, helping Mauricio Pochettino’s side to defeat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.

The centre-half managed to get his name on the scoresheet on the night and Reece James has since taken to Instagram to share his delight at his teammate’s return.

The Chelsea captain posted a picture showing an embrace between the two during the game on his Instagram story with the caption: “Welcome back”.

Badiashile started the match in central defence alongside compatriot Axel Disasi and loved his reunion with him after their time together at AS Monaco.

Will Reece James and Benoit Badiashile both start against Tottenham Hotspur?

James has to. The right-back is easily one of Chelsea’s best players and the game against their London rivals is not going to be an easy one.

The Blues are away and Tottenham are flying at the moment, sitting at the top of the table above the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

If James is fit enough to play, it would be a bit of a surprise if Pochettino left him on the bench.

It is a bit different with Badiashile, though. The Frenchman may need to do a bit more before he ousts either Thiago Silva or Disasi out of the team and becomes an important player for Chelsea.

His minutes against Blackburn were his first of the season as well. He may not be ready to start a match like the one with Tottenham next Monday.

Ultimately, while we would expect James to be included in Chelsea’s first XI for the trip to Tottenham, Badiashile may just miss out despite reminding everyone of what he can do last night.
