Chelsea youngster Reggie Walsh has undergone significant physical development ahead of Xabi Alonso’s first pre-season training session.
Alonso included a number of academy stars alongside the likes of Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro as he begins to get his ideas across to the Chelsea squad.
One of those in action was Reggie Walsh, who has already made his first team debut during Enzo Maresca’s time in charge of the club.

Walsh broke the record for youngest Chelsea player to feature in the Champions League, and may see the 2026/27 season as one where he can make a genuine impact on the first team squad.

The Englishman was spotted in training under Alonso, however looked far more physically developed than the youngster who had made his debut more than a year earlier.
Walsh looks significantly taller, standing close to Palmer and looking near enough the same height as the 6 foot 1 inch attacking midfielder.
The youngster has also put on a significant amount of muscle, suggesting he will be physically ready to compete at the top level of English football.
An opportunity could arise for Walsh this season in the face of plenty of midfield exits from Stamford Bridge, including key names Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos.
The Brazilian is set to see his move to Manchester United confirmed today, while Fernandez is still persisting to get himself to Real Madrid this summer.

Opportunites coming for Walsh at Chelsea
Chelsea are trying to sign at least one replacement in this transfer window, with Alex Scott’s name emerging as one of those near the top of the list.
However, they are set to be priced out of a move for Adam Wharton, and this could lead them to putting faith in the players they already have at their disposal.
With Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo’s worrying injury records, Walsh could be handed more chances to impress under Alonso, giving him the potential to be the big winner of the midfielder merry-go-round this summer.
