Reports have claimed that Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is really excited about the prospect of joining Chelsea this summer.

According to TeamTALK, he is particularly looking forward to working with new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues have honed in on Caicedo as their number one target in the transfer market right now, and have been in direct contact for a number of weeks now.

They are talking to Brighton, who are notoriously difficult negotiators. They also won’t be making the situation easy due to the Levi Colwill situation.

The England U21 international is awaiting talks with the boss over his future at Stamford Bridge, as the Seagulls are more than keen to take him back after his loan spell last season.

They are prepared to smash their transfer record too, although money is currently what seems to be holding things back regarding Chelsea’s pursuit of Caicedo.

The report says that Brighton are hoping for a fee of around £100m for the player, after seeing themselves how much West Ham were able to get for Declan Rice.

This has thrown a spanner in the works for the Blues. They are only months removed from paying nearly that exact fee for Enzo Fernandez to Benfica.

However, they may be hoping that the player’s desire to leave, as well as his aim of working under Pochettino, may help their case in the market.

It has been an impressive first week under the Argentine at Cobham, as a large portion of the first team returned to training.

The vibe around the camp is said to have improved greatly, while players are being pushed to the limit in fitness sessions that reportedly blow last season’s efforts out of the water.
