Edouard Mendy has been in individual training as he continues his return to fitness.

The Chelsea goalkeeper hasn’t made an appearance for the club since November, with injuries keeping him out of action post-World Cup.

According to the Daily Mail, Mendy has been in light training by himself to assess his injury.

It is explained that the 31-year-old had surgery on a broken finger.

The report says the Senegal international hopes to be fully recovered and back in full training within the next two weeks, though.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has taken the gloves as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper this season, but he’s had the comfort of really cementing his position in the past couple of months during Mendy’s enforced absence.

Graham Potter does like to play with a shot-stopper who is good with the ball at his feet, so perhaps Kepa is the most suited gloveman on the books at Stamford Bridge.

For Mendy, his form has dropped off this season from the incredibly high standards he set earlier in his Blues career.

Let’s hope the £22million keeper has benefited massively from his break and he can return rejuvenated.

The Sun claimed back in December that Mendy snubbed a six-year contract offer from Chelsea because he wasn’t happy with the salary package.

His deal at Stamford Bridge doesn’t expire until 2025, but will he stick around to see it out?

The problem for Mendy when he returns will be getting any game time.
