Vincent Kompany has been named as a surprise contender to become the next Chelsea manager, according to reports.
Vincent Kompany, who’s never managed a Premier League game before, is most recognised for his incredible playing career in Manchester City colours.
However, the 37-year-old has started to make a name for himself recently as a coach.
After doing well in his first job at Anderlecht, Championship club Burnley decided to take a chance on him last summer. This season he’s helped Burnley secure automatic promotion to the Premier League during his first year of management in England.

The Times claims that Kompany is one of the names on a four-man shortlist to take charge at Chelsea, which also includes Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.
It is understood that the Blues have been seriously considering Burnley’s young boss.
The report explains that his leadership skills and team’s playing style at Turf Moor has really impressed the Chelsea hierarchy. However, there are concerns about his inexperience at the elite level, something that worked against Graham Potter.
In addition, he’s named as a candidate for Tottenham in their search for a new manager.

We massively admire what Kompany has managed to achieve this season at Burnley. Remarkably, he’s changed the culture of the club in less than a year and is coaching a side that play some attractive possession-based football.
It feels like he’s another Pep Guardiola disciple destined for a big managerial career, but perhaps sticking with the Burnley project next year in the Premier League would be the best step.
There is so much scrutiny on the next manager to take charge at Chelsea, so does Kompany want to throw himself into that while he’s still relatively inexperienced and learning his craft?
The Telegraph recently claimed that Chelsea want more talks with Nagelsmann. They say Pochettino is big competition in the managerial race, though.
However, Kompany has emerged from nowhere on this four-man shortlist.
