Reports have claimed that Chelsea would consider hiring Roberto de Zerbi as their next manager if Graham Potter is sacked.
According to the Independent, the Brighton man would be one of the names the club would look at despite him being the successor at his club to their current manager.
Pressure has mounted to an outrageous level on the man in charge at Stamford Bridge, with results not picking up to a level that was acceptable at this club.
Before last weekend, it had been two wins in 17 for the Blues, and many believed a loss on Saturday would’ve been the end of Potter’s tenure.
Perhaps with this knowledge in hand, the manager elected to play a back three, and his decision paid off as they secured a narrow 1-0 win over Leeds United.
It is likely that the Englishman brings this system with him to Stamford Bridge tonight when the stakes are at their highest against Borussia Dortmund.
De Zerbi could replace Potter
Failure to qualify for the next round of the Champions League would surely be the final straw for a fanbase who are already beginning to get sick of the man in charge right now.
Names have been thrown up recently as to who would potentially replace Potter if a decision was made before the end of the season to relieve him of his duties.
While it has recently been confirmed that there is no route back for Thomas Tuchel, it has now been claimed that their answer may be closer to home.
The Independent has claimed that they would consider De Zerbi, who is currently carrying on Potter’s fantastic work at the Amex.
The former Shakhtar coach has a relationship working with Mykhailo Mudryk already, although will surely be seen as an outsider for the role right now.
