Reports have claimed that former Spurs and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has already registered interest in managing Chelsea.

According to The Sun, the 50-year-old is waiting in the wings to take over if under-pressure Graham Potter is sacked in the near future.

Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked as the manager of the French champions in July.

Despite links to a number of top jobs, it seems the Argentine is waiting for the perfect role before jumping back on the managerial merry-go round.

The former Spurs manager was linked with the Chelsea job when Thomas Tuchel was sacked earlier this season. However, it was Potter who was handed the role.

It was claimed at the time that the owners had been great fans of his since way before they dismissed the German.

Things have not worked out perfectly so far though, despite a nine-game unbeaten start at the helm. Dismal form since then, which has carried on after the World Cup break, has begun to irritate some supporters.

Those may be encouraged by The Sun’s news that if things don’t work out for the former Brighton manager, then the 2019 Champions League finalist would be interested in taking over.

Being a former Spurs manager, Pochettino certainly has a storied history with the Blues.

He has previously fallen out with Chelsea legend John Terry during a title race that involved both London sides. However, the former captain apologised for his part in the situation.

Ultimately, Potter has simply been on the end of a bad run of luck which has made his job close to impossible at Stamford Bridge.

Having all of Reece James, Ben Chilwell, N’golo Kante and Wesley Fofana injured for near enough his entire time in charge has seen him missing over a third of the core that would probably be in his starting XI.
