Chelsea are now entering the next stage of talks with Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports.
Mauricio Pochettino, 51, is now seriously emerging as a strong candidate to become Chelsea’s next permanent manager.
The Argentine boss hasn’t been working since leaving Paris Saint-Germain last year, but a return to the Premier League could now be on the cards.
Sky Sports claims that the 51-year-old is the outstanding contender on Chelsea’s three-man managerial shortlist, which also includes Vincent Kompany and an unnamed individual.
Incidentally, The Athletic has shared that Chelsea always viewed Pochettino as a stronger candidate than Julian Nagelsmann, who’s now pulled out of the manager hunt.

The Independent reports this afternoon that Chelsea have reached the next stage with Pochettino.
It is understood that he’s been speaking with the Blues hierarchy about a possible start date, which is likely to be in the summer. He’s discussed potential transfer plans, too.
The report adds that his appointment at Stamford Bridge is still not certain, but talks are further advanced than at least one of the other candidates.

Pochettino’s CV is certainly an attractive one, winning trophies in his previous job at Paris Saint-Germain. More importantly, he showed he can compete in the Premier League during five years at the Tottenham helm.
The Chelsea candidate succeeding in helping to build a young and hungry Spurs team, so could he repeat that trick with a Blues squad stacked with so much youthfulness?
