Reports have claimed that Chelsea were willing to swap either Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech in exchange for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
According to The Athletic, the Blues were looking to feature the Portugal international in the striker position, a role they are desperately looking to strengthen this summer.
Interest in Leao stems back to last summer, following what was a player of the season campaign for the winger on the way to winning Serie A.

While this season did not originally get off to the strong start that had occurred 12 months earlier, recently he has shown his quality on numerous occasions.
This has helped his side reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, although they have a mountain to climb following a 2-0 defeat to arch-rivals Inter Milan in the first leg.
Leao has been consistently linked with a move away from the San Siro, with Chelsea the side strongest linked with a move for his services.
Chelsea offered Ziyech and Pulisic for Leao
Their efforts to bring him in have been well known, with it now being claimed that they were happy for one or two of their first team squad to leave in exchange.
Pulisic and Ziyech are two players whose future does not look too bright when Mauricio Pochettino takes over as the new manager.

In fact, it is likely both are sold as the club finally address the elephant in the room regarding the bloated squad size.
A number of clubs around Europe have been linked with either of the duo, with recent Serie A champions Napoli showing a reported new interested in signing the American.
The Blues may use this to their advantage in any potential negotiations with the Italian side this summer, as they consider the addition of Victor Osimhen.
