Reports have claimed that Chelsea have made contact with their first two candidates to replace Graham Potter as manager.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues have been in touch with Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique as they begin their hunt for a third manager of the season.

The Potter experiment came to a disappointing end over the weekend, as Todd Boehly was forced to pull the trigger on the former Brighton manager’s time in West London.

Despite his backing of the Englishman, seeing his club enter the bottom half of the league was too much for the American to continue to defend.

This has begun the extensive process of looking to find the next face of the project at Stamford Bridge.

Nagelsmann has emerged as an early favourite, perhaps predictably given the timing of his sacking from Bayern Munich.

However, it is widely expected for him to prefer not returning to management until the end of the season, leaving the door open for other candidates.

While the club have already spoken to the German, it has been claimed they have also made contact with Enrique to discuss taking over.

Recent reports have claimed the former Spain boss is keen to return to management as soon as possible, with the Premier League being his dream destination.

His experience managing at the top for far longer could put him in a stronger place than Nagelsmann to make an instant impact at Stamford Bridge.

It does feel like someone needs to come in who will be able to control the egos that exist amongst the playing squad. Claims that the team almost went against a plan for the Aston Villa defeat laid out by Potter spark concern.

The decision is a big one for the Blues, and they are reportedly not going to be taking it lightly. It has been claimed they may well even wait until the end of the campaign and a thorough interview process before making a decision.
