Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now interested in signing Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri this summer.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are one of the top Premier League sides interested in bringing him in when his schoolboy contract comes to an end at the end of the season.

Nwaneri’s name was in the headlines earlier this season when he was handed an appearance early in the season against Brentford.

His showing made him the youngest player to feature in Premier League history, showing just how much faith the league leaders at the time have in him.

While some saw it as a sort of PR stunt at the hands of Mikel Arteta, it was a sensational achievement to feature in the top flight at his age.

However, he has not played a minute for the Gunners since that afternoon, perhaps opening up the opportunity for him to move on from the Emirates this summer.

A move to Chelsea would follow the same pattern of Omari Hutchinson, who also made his first team debut for the Blues earlier this season.

While he has spent the majority of the season impressing in the youth team, he made the move across London last summer to search for a new opportunity.

Todd Boehly has not been hesitant to bring in young stars with an eye to the future in the two transfer windows he has been in charge of.

This has been perhaps highlighted by the addition of Carney Chukwuemeka, who is now about to finish his first campaign as a Chelsea player.

He will undoubtedly be a bit disappointed with the gametime he has received, although Frank Lampard has promised more minutes will be available for him in the final two games of the campaign.
