Reports have claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not welcome back to Manchester United training when he returns from the World Cup.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils are in the process of beginning to terminate the club legend’s contract following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan has come to light.

The 37-year-old has launched a scathing attack on his current employers, not stopping short of calling out manager Erik ten Hag.

He has claimed there is a lack of respect from the former Ajax manager to himself, seemingly cutting all ties with the club in the process.

Despite earning the highest wage at Old Trafford, there has seemed to be no pleasing the great man.

ESPN have claimed Ten Hag has made it clear to the board at United that he doesn’t want the five-time Balon d’Or winner to return to the club when he returns from international duty with Portugal.

Ronaldo not welcome back to United

During the summer, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was actively pursuing the opportunity to bring in a player the quality of Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge as a marquee statement in his first window in charge.

He ran into opposition at Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel, who was in charge of the club when the American wanted to secure the deal, was firmly against signing the superstar.

The German instead preferred a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on deadline day, reuniting with the striker after a spell together at Borussia Dortmund.

It has been reported that Graham Potter is equally as against a deal to sign Ronaldo as his predecessor, with him looking to prioritise bringing in younger players.

With the club reportedly more keen on securing a deal for Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, it looks like Ronaldo may need to look elsewhere for his next move.
