Chelsea boss Graham Potter reportedly doesn’t want to sign Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, who’s a hot topic of discussion right now, is firmly in the media spotlight after his revealing interview with Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old striker has been very open and direct in his criticism of Manchester United’s owners as well as manager Erik ten Hag.

It’s no surprise that the transfer rumour mill is now flying with talks of the Portuguese star potentially exiting Old Trafford.

Potter doesn’t want Ronaldo

The Daily Mail claims that Potter isn’t keen on the idea of bringing Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge, something that his predecessor, Thomas Tuchel, agreed with.

However, the report explains that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly may still look to offer the superstar name a way out of Man United in the January transfer window. He’s believed to have a close relationship with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes.

Ben Jacobs reports on Twitter that Mendes will look to offer Ronaldo to Chelsea again after an attempt in the summer.

Described as “extraordinary” recently by Ruben Neves, Ronaldo is someone that will still feel he can shine at the World Cup with Portugal this winter.

He’s clearly not happy with his opportunities at Manchester United, scoring three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season. His chances have been limited in the Premier League, too.

The forward has slipped to a bit-part role under Ten Hag, which seemed inevitable at some stage as he enters his late-thirties.

In our view, there’s just too much baggage around Ronaldo for Chelsea to entertain the notion of signing him.

It’s worrying that suggestions are Boehly may go against Potter’s wishes, though.
