Reports have claimed that Graham Potter may look to shift to a back three system tonight when they face Borussia Dortmund.

According to The Guardian, the absence of Benoit Badiashile will force the manager to make a decision regarding the defence in Germany tonight.

The Frenchman has formed a sensational partnership with Thiago Silva in recent weeks. The pair have started the last four games for the club together.

In that time, they have conceded just one goal, with it going to former Blue Emerson.

The duo have allowed Potter to play a back four in the majority of his games in charge. However, this may not be the same when he is forced to look elsewhere for options to play at the back.

This will be the case tonight, with Badiashile not being available due to not being part of the Champions League squad.

Potter may move to back three

Only three of the January signings were able to be registered, with the club deciding to choose Joao Felix, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk instead.

This could see the return of Kalidou Koulibaly tonight, with his place in the side not being obvious since the transfer window.

He has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, with it being claimed that there are a number of factors including living in London that have led to this.

Nevertheless, he could be set for a huge chance to grab his spot back tonight.

However, his shortcomings of late could cause Potter to rethink, with The Guardian claiming that he could look to a back five instead.

Trevoh Chalobah is fit and ready to go, while Wesley Fofana has been working hard in recent weeks in order to return to fitness for the first time since October.
